Clouding from moisture in a photo or ID laminate
Moisture clouding is a milky patch that follows a damp photo or a card that was not dry. Heat turns that water into a fog under the film.
Checks
- Dry prints fully before they go into a pouch. A photo that feels dry can still be damp in a dark solid.
- If the haze is over the whole card and the film looks cloudy on the roll, the adhesive was not heated through. That is a different fault from a damp insert.
- Store stock and finished cards dry. A sealed card can still fog if water was trapped inside.
- Do not reheat a fogged card until you know it is moisture. More heat on an under-activated film can help. More heat on trapped water will not.
