Pouch and ID card corners that peel

Corner peel on a pouch or an ID card is a bond that never reached the corner, or a cut that left the adhesive short of the edge.

Checks

  1. Leave a sealed border and trim inside it. A cut on the adhesive line opens the first time the card flexes.
  2. Check heat and dwell at the corners, not only in the middle of the pouch. Corners see less pressure.
  3. Dry the insert. A damp photo or a card that was just printed gives off moisture and clouds the corner.
  4. Flex a sample the next day. A corner that opens then was a marginal bond, not a bad trim alone.
