Orange peel on a photo laminate

Orange peel on a photo laminate is a fine texture in the surface. The adhesive did not flow, the pressure was light, or the film was run too cool for that gauge.

Checks

  1. Compare with a known-good sample of the same film. Some matte and textured films look like orange peel on purpose.
  2. Raise dwell or pressure in small steps. A glossy film that stays textured was usually under-activated.
  3. A thick pouch on a light setting will not flow at the adhesive. Match the setting to the gauge.
  4. If the texture is only at the edges, pressure is uneven. Check the rollers before you change film.
