Ink that will not dry or cure
Drying and cure fail in different ways. Oxidative ink stays wet in a tall pile. UV and LED ink stays soft when the lamp or the coat weight is wrong. Solvent and water inks stay tacky when the dryer is short.
Checks
- Name the drying method before you change a setting. Oxidative, UV, LED, water, and solvent are not the same fix.
- Check lamp hours, window cleanliness, and that the lamp matches the ink. A weak lamp undercures a heavy coat.
- Lower the coat weight or slow the press if the ink is still marking after the dryer.
- Keep oxidative piles small and air them. A hot, tight pile sets off even when a single sheet felt dry.
