Scuffing in the carton pack

Pack scuff is cartons rubbing in the case. The print was not tough enough yet, or the pack was tight and vibrating. It shows up as gloss marks and color on the next carton.

Checks

  1. Look at a carton from the middle of a case, not the top of the load. Rubbing happens where they touch.
  2. Confirm the coating or film is cured before the cartons are packed tight.
  3. A soft ink under a thin coating still scuffs. Rub the real construction, not a plain ink drawdown.
  4. If only the ship test fails, loosen the pack or add protection. The print can be fine and the pack still too tight.
