Ghosting on an offset sheet
Mechanical ghosting is a faint second image on the same side of the sheet. The ink film on the rollers was starved or overcharged by the image ahead of it.
Checks
- Confirm it is on the printed side and matches a shape on that form. A mark on the back is set-off.
- Heavy solids next to open areas are the classic layout. Changing the layout or the ink take-off is the fix, not more pressure.
- Check roller settings and ink film. A roller that is not eating ink evenly ghosts.
- A different ink body can reduce it. Test a drawdown only after you know it is ghosting and not a blanket smash.
