Registration that will not hold

Registration drift is the colors no longer fitting. Separate stock movement from a mechanical shift before you remake a plate.

Checks

1. Mark a sheet at the start and another an hour in. If the image moved on the sheet, the plate or the blanket moved. If the sheet changed size, the stock moved.
2. On a web, check tension and dryer heat. A web that stretches between stations will not hold fit.
3. Acclimate paper between passes. A second pass on a sheet that grew will not fit the first.
4. Lock the side guide and the gripper edge. A wandering sheet looks like a bad plate.
