Matrix that will not strip

Matrix stripping fails when the waste web is too weak, the die strike is uneven, or the adhesive is holding harder than the matrix can pull.

Checks

  1. Watch where it breaks. A break at a sharp corner or a thin tie is the die shape. A break everywhere is tension or a weak face.
  2. Confirm the strike is even. A light spot leaves the label attached to the matrix.
  3. Slow down and lower the strip angle before you add tension. Extra tension snaps a thin matrix.
  4. A cold adhesive releases harder. Warm the web if the matrix is lifting labels that are fully cut.
