COF and slip that are out of range

Coefficient of friction is how easily the surface slides. Too low and stacks slide apart. Too high and the web drags, scuffs, or will not feed.

Checks

  1. Measure the face that actually touches the machine or the next pouch. Inside and outside are different surfaces.
  2. A fresh laminate can change slip as slip additive blooms. Check a roll after it has sat, not only on the day it was made.
  3. Heat and wind-up pressure can crush a slip layer. A roll that was fine at the outside can be tight at the core.
  4. Do not add a slip coating until you know which face is wrong. The wrong face makes the other problem.
